Former hall house
Somerset
We undertook this Grade II listed building refurbishment in Somerset. The building is listed Grade ll*, and is the major part of a hall house, built in the late 14th or early 15th centuries, and when constructed it would be open from ground floor to roof level, without a first floor. The structure and fabric had suffered from inappropriate alterations and a lack of maintenance, and was in a very poor structure when our clients purchased it. We undertook a comprehensive refurbishment, which required a careful deconstruction of the existing building, in particular the roof, to get back to sound historic material. Many years of neglect have been reversed and the building, and this new Grade II listed building refurbishment, with a new aluminium extension, are safe guarded for the future.
