With the 2024 general election out of the way, the UK finds itself with a new government and new targets for House Building.
The UK is estimated to require somewhere between 300,000 to 500,000 new houses per year in order to keep up with a growing population and housing inadequacies, but these numbers have not been met for some time, with a peak of 243,000 being reached in 2019/2020.
The new Labour government has committed to 1.5 million new houses over the next 5 years, while also increasing the number of planning officers to tackle the backlog and generally promising reforms to current planning policy.
