Residential extension in Shepton Mallet

The existing

Located not far from our Somerset office, our clients asked us to design a new rear extension to replace their existing, as well as performing some alterations to other parts of the house, including new fenestration.

The process

Working with the brief from our client to base our designs on the art deco aesthetic, we followed an iterative process, utilising 3D design tools in order to visualise options.

Using this method we can make and view changes to the design on the fly, and it can be seen that even the finished product underwent a final iteration to its design.

The result

In principle, the extension has an art deco theme with coursed render to the walls and metal doors and windows. The final design of the new extension was focused on the geometry of bold curves and the visible detail of streamlined paneled wall cladding set around spacious openings. The finished result is an extension that complements the main house in a considered and graceful style.
